Chimney Range Hood Repair

Chimney hood repair: a loose chimney, a grease-clogged duct, motor, filters and lights — a clear price first and a 6-month written warranty. A chimney hood is a straight or T-shaped wall hood whose tall stainless chimney hides the duct running up to the ceiling. Unlike a pyramid hood, its canopy is flat or slim rather than narrowing upward — if yours is pyramid-shaped, see the pyramid hood page.

A chimney hood works on the same principle as a pyramid hood, but a vertical chimney hides the duct that carries the air outside. The chimney is usually stainless steel and telescopic (two sections that slide into each other), so its height adjusts within a limited range depending on the model; high ceilings need an extension piece. Components: a motor (typically 200–400 W), aluminum filters, an optional carbon filter (for models with no outside vent), a stainless chimney, a control panel and LED lights. The most common brands: Bosch, Faber, Elica and Indesit.

Signs your Chimney Range Hood needs service

  • A rattling noise from the chimney while running
  • A strange motor noise coming from the chimney
  • Smoke isn't being vented outside properly (blocked duct)
  • Rust spots on the stainless steel
  • Lights not working
  • Dirty filters

Tips to keep your Chimney Range Hood running

  • Clean the stainless steel with a dedicated stainless cleaner to prevent rust
  • Check the chimney mounting every 6 months
  • Wash the grease filters every 2–4 weeks — built-up grease can catch fire
  • Never run the hood without filters — grease gets into the motor and duct
  • Use the speeds gradually (not high all the time)
  • Disconnect the power before any chimney maintenance

Chimney Range Hood — frequently asked questions

The chimney is loose — is that dangerous?

Yes — the stainless chimney is heavy and a loose mount can let it fall. Stop using the hood and call a technician to re-secure it.

Smoke isn't getting outside — why?

Usually the duct inside the chimney is clogged with built-up grease, or the back-draft flap is stuck. A deep clean needs a technician to take the chimney down and clean the duct.

There are rust spots on the stainless steel — what's the fix?

Clean it with a dedicated stainless steel cleaner, then polish. If the rust is deep, the chimney cover may need replacing.

Do you install chimney hoods under a high 3-meter ceiling?

Yes — we adjust the chimney height and fit an extension piece for high ceilings where the model allows.

How long does a chimney hood last?

Usually 10–15 years; the stainless chimney itself lasts longer with regular cleaning.
