Telescopic slider repair
Built-in Range Hood Repair
Built-in hood repair: a sticking drawer, a hood that will not start with the drawer, motor, filters and lights — a clear price and a 6-month written warranty. A built-in hood sits inside the cabinet above the hob; on telescopic models you pull out a drawer to start it and widen the capture area. Its moving parts — slider, drawer switch and cable — are what usually need repair.

A built-in hood is installed inside a cabinet above the hob. On telescopic models a drawer slides out by hand to enlarge the capture area, and pulling the drawer out switches the hood on through a small micro switch. Components: a motor, aluminum filters, a telescopic slider that carries the drawer, the drawer switch, a control panel or buttons, and LED lights. On most models the grease filters unclip from under the drawer; reaching the motor sometimes means removing part of the cabinet.

Tips to keep your Built-in Range Hood running
- Pull out the drawer a few minutes before cooking
- Don't leave the drawer open when the hood isn't running
- If the drawer feels stiff, do not force it — clean grease from the rails and call a technician if it still sticks
- The grease filters unclip from under the drawer — wash them every 2–4 weeks in hot soapy water, or in the dishwasher if the manual allows
- Use a dedicated stainless steel cleaner on the drawer front
- Disconnect the power before attempting any disassembly for maintenance

Built-in Range Hood — frequently asked questions
The pull-out drawer won't move — why?
Usually the telescopic slider is coated in built-up grease or worn. Clean the visible rails with the hood unplugged; if it still sticks, a technician cleans and greases the slider with a suitable lubricant or replaces it.
The hood won't start when I pull the drawer out — what should I do?
Pulling the drawer switches the hood on through a small micro switch, so the fault is usually that switch or the cable that moves with the drawer. On some premium models with a motorized drawer, it may be the drawer motor or its sensor. It needs a technician to check.
Is servicing a built-in hood difficult?
A little harder than a pyramid hood, but doable. The grease filters unclip easily from under the drawer; if the fault is in the motor, the technician sometimes removes part of the cabinet to reach it. Regular cleaning reduces faults.
Do you install built-in hoods in an existing cabinet?
Yes — we measure the cabinet, cut the opening, install the hood and connect the exhaust duct, with a written warranty.
How long does a built-in hood last?
Usually 10–15 years; the telescopic slider and the drawer switch are among the first parts to tire, because they move every day.
Do you work on Bosch built-in hoods?
Yes — we repair Bosch built-in hoods, as well as Miele and AEG.
