Replacing the original thermocouple
The gas water heater is the most common in Egyptian homes because it is about 60% cheaper to run than electricity. Its maintenance needs a gas-specialist technician, because safety is the priority — any gas leak is extremely dangerous. We have technicians certified by the gas companies.
Gas water heaters work by igniting a flame that heats the water on demand. Their main components: the pilot light, the burner, the magnetic gas valve, and the thermocouple (heat sensor). The most common faults: the pilot keeps going out, weak gas pressure, or a leak from the valve. The most common brands: Bosch, Electrostar, Ferroli, Ecomatic, Fresh and Kiriazi.
The most frequent faults we encounter while servicing Gas — ranked by occurrence.
A faulty thermocouple that does not signal the magnetic valve
Burner jets clogged with dust and insects
A burnt magnetic valve or a broken circuit to it
Weak gas pressure from the supply
A faulty water temperature sensor (NTC)
Scale buildup on the heat exchanger
Replacing the original thermocouple
Cleaning the burner jets and ignition ports
Replacing the magnetic valve with a safety test
Descaling the heat exchanger
A full safety inspection of all gas connections
Installing a new gas heater with all safety connections
Usually a faulty thermocouple — it is what tells the magnetic valve that the flame is on. If it does not work, the valve shuts off the gas for safety. Replacing the thermocouple is simple and inexpensive.
1) Shut off the gas tap immediately. 2) Open the windows for ventilation. 3) Do not light anything (candle, lighter, even a light switch). 4) Call the gas company or a specialist technician from outside the apartment.
Without a specialist technician — yes. Gas is extremely dangerous. We have technicians certified by the gas companies and specialized in safety. Do not attempt the repair yourself.
Yellow = incomplete combustion = dangerous CO production. A technician must inspect it immediately. The causes: clogged burner jets, poor ventilation, or a fault in the burner itself.
10-15 years with regular maintenance. Without maintenance it drops to 6-8 years. The thermocouple is replaced every 5-7 years.
Yes. The installation includes connecting the gas and water, leak testing, fitting a safety valve, and a trial run.
On-site diagnosis, clear pricing before any work, and a 6-month written warranty.
